Training: from self-care to caring for others

Intensive: Starting as an Independent Psychotherapist, Psychologist, or Coach

Training Communication Skills & Practice Management

Starting your own practice is more than just registering with the Chamber of Commerce. It requires a solid foundation, both technically and personally. A place where you can combine knowledge, craftsmanship and yourself, without getting lost in protocols or in yourself.

In this intensive week, fueled by fifteen years of experience and four different psychotherapy trainings, we will work together to build that foundation. No dry theory. A deep dive into the essence of communication skills and the true basis of self-employment.

The fourth edition starts in the first week of June. Register now.

THE PROCESS:

1. Intensive week

5 consecutive days (Monday to Friday) from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

2. Individual Supervision

2 follow-up supervision sessions to safeguard your own process as a therapist.

3. Peer supervision

The opportunity to subsequently join an intervision group with your fellow students.

The group will start with a minimum of 4 registrations. We will determine the dates together in consultation.

What will you learn?

In this intensive week, we delve beyond theory. You will learn how to run a practice that is not only professionally sound but also truly resonates with who you are as a therapist.

  • The Art of Conversation: You will refine your conversation techniques to get to the essence more quickly, without losing sight of the person behind the complaint.
  • The Therapeutic Stance: How do you establish a safe foundation where transformation can take place? We practice presence and sharpness in the 'interspace'.
  • The Business Foundation: You will learn the practical steps to build your practice as an independent professional, from organization to positioning.
  • Beyond the Label: How do you approach complex cases without immediately thinking in terms of boxes or diagnoses?
  • Self-Care as a Basis: You will discover how to remain strong as a caregiver in a world full of change.

This training course is an absolute must for anyone longing for healthy relationships, both privately and at work. You learn to stand on your own two feet and encourage others to do the same. You learn to listen without judging, and to allow and question physical experiences. Marie starts from phenomenology, but also draws from other schools of thought and insights. Her online selection of films, speakers and literature is a valuable addition. Expect a real experience in a pleasant environment, where everything unfolds naturally and organically, where you are invited to be yourself with others and return home with new insights.
Thank you!

This course meant a lot to me. I had graduated as a psychologist a few years earlier but couldn't immediately find work in the field. This made me feel like I couldn't do anything when I finally could enter the workforce. Marie Nellens' 'From Self-Care to Caring for Others' course helped me regain my self-confidence, refresh learned theories, and re-ignite my desire to learn more. Where the university psychology program remained very theoretical, Marie supplemented the theory with her own practical knowledge and presented it in a more varied way. This was done through the use of examples, practicing with each other, and clear/beautiful illustrations that helped better understand the sometimes abstract concepts. We could try out various techniques, such as family constellations, received explanations about different themes, and learned the importance of body language and the field between the client and yourself. The small group in which we met also made it possible to actively participate in the sessions every time. This made it no longer feel like you were being taught, but more like you were engaged in a captivating conversation from beginning to end. In short, I highly recommend the course. Especially for anyone who wants to experience different themes and techniques in an open and more organic way than purely through textbooks, and for anyone who wants to reconnect with their own conversational skills.

In this practice-oriented course, Marie provides a generous glimpse into her colourful toolbox as a therapist. As always, she is more than generous with theory, examples, visuals, and applications on the most important themes in therapy. Her openness gives you insight into how therapy actually works, but also why it sometimes doesn't. In her typical way, Marie creates a sense of safety and coming home; even those who doubt themselves as therapists are welcome here.

Marie's course was very special to me. The content was not only very valuable but was also delivered in a warm, pleasant, and open atmosphere. There was a strong connection between the participants, which enriched the learning process even further. I felt heard, seen, and supported by both Marie and the other participants. From this experience, I gained both profound insights and beautiful personal growth. Thank you.
